Abstract

This study aims to improve students’ financial literacy through a community service activity involving training in making piggy banks from recycled materials at SD Negeri 095180 Bah Aren. The activity was conducted directly in the field and involved students as the main participants through several stages, including preparation, delivery of financial literacy materials, piggy bank-making practices, mentoring, and evaluation. The materials provided covered basic financial literacy concepts, the importance of saving, the ability to distinguish between needs and wants, and the wise use of money. The practice of making piggy banks from recycled materials was designed as a creative and accessible learning medium for students. The results showed that students were able to understand the importance of saving and recognize simple ways to manage money. In addition to increasing financial knowledge, the activity encouraged creativity, discipline, responsibility, and environmental awareness through the utilization of used materials. Therefore, financial literacy training through practical activities involving recycled piggy banks can serve as an applicable educational medium for developing positive financial habits among elementary school students from an early age.
