Abstract

This study aims to analyze financial literacy and the use of financial technology in shaping the financial behavior of Generation Z through student community service activities (Kuliah Kerja Nyata or KKN) conducted directly in the field. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Informants were selected purposively based on their involvement and experience in using digital financial services. The results showed that Generation Z had a basic understanding of financial management, but its application was not yet fully consistent, particularly in recording expenses, setting priorities, and controlling purchases based on wants. The use of financial technology, including digital wallets, mobile banking, and QR-based payments, provided transaction convenience but could also encourage spontaneous spending. Education provided by KKN students helped improve informants’ understanding of financial planning, digital transaction security, expenditure control, and responsible use of technology. The activities also encouraged initial awareness of recording transactions and distinguishing needs from wants. This study emphasizes that integrating financial literacy with wise use of financial technology is necessary to support more planned and responsible financial behavior among Generation Z.
