Abstract

The waste problem is an environmental issue that requires community involvement in its management. Unsorted household waste can disrupt environmental cleanliness, while inorganic waste still has economic value. This condition is the basis for the implementation of the Waste Bank program in the Community Service Program (KKN) of the State Islamic University of North Sumatra in Sitinjo II Village. This activity is an implementation of the theme "UINSU Impact: Strengthening DESA MESRA (Moderate, Ecotheological, and Prosperous Villages) to Alleviate Extreme Poverty and Stunting." The Waste Bank program is directed at supporting ecotheological aspects and community empowerment through participatory-based waste management. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with a participatory approach. Data were obtained through observation, documentation, literature studies, and direct student involvement in the implementation of the activity. The results show that the Waste Bank program can be a means of education regarding waste sorting, increasing awareness of environmental cleanliness, and utilizing waste with economic value. From an ecotheological perspective, this activity reflects human responsibility in protecting the environment. The sustainability of the program requires village government support, community participation, adequate facilities, and consistent management.
