Abstract

Listening comprehension is one of the essential skills in ELT because it enables students to understand information delivered orally and supports their ability to communicate effectively. This Community Service Program (PKM) aimed to improve the listening comprehension skills of eighth-grade students at SMP Tumbang. The activity was conducted on July 27, 2026, involving 33 eighth-grade students in a single session lasting approximately 150 minutes. The program employed a participatory and interactive approach through the stages of Pre-test, Vocabulary, Procedural Text, Listening Practice, and Post-test. The learning activities were designed to provide students with opportunities to develop Vocabulary knowledge, understand Procedural Texts, and practice listening through direct and engaging activities. Data were analyzed descriptively by comparing the Pre-test and Post-test results and observing students’ participation during the activities. The results showed an increase in the mean score from 51.84 in the Pre-test to 78.67 in the Post-test, representing an improvement of 26 points. The activity also demonstrated increased student participation, motivation, and confidence in participating in English language learning. These findings indicate that participatory and interactive listening activities can support students’ comprehension development and encourage more active involvement in English learning.
