Mastery of medical and pharmaceutical English vocabulary is essential for pharmacy students to access scientific literature, understand drug labelling, and communicate in English-language pharmaceutical services. Quizlet, a digital flashcard application based on spaced repetition, has been reported to improve foreign-language vocabulary mastery, but empirical evidence among Indonesian pharmacy students remains limited. This study aimed to evaluate differences in final English course scores, used as a proxy for vocabulary mastery, between students who did not use Quizlet (Class A, n = 50) and those who used it (Class B, n = 49) at the Diploma Program in Pharmacy, Institut Ilmu Kesehatan (IIK) Pelamonia Makassar, during the 2025/2026 academic year. A quantitative quasi-experimental static-group comparison design was employed using two pre-existing groups without randomisation. Final-score data were analysed using the Shapiro-Wilk test, Levene’s Test, and Mann-Whitney U test at a significance level of 0.05. Class A obtained a slightly higher mean score (M = 89.80; SD = 6.21; Median = 92.50) than Class B (M = 89.04; SD = 4.16; Median = 90.00). The Mann-Whitney U test showed a statistically significant difference (U = 908.50; z = 2.22; p = 0.023; r = 0.22), but contrary to the hypothesis, Class A outperformed Class B. The finding may reflect non-equivalent groups, an insufficiently specific course-grade proxy, and the absence of treatment-fidelity data. Future studies should use validated vocabulary tests and randomised experimental designs.
