Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has transformed the way educational institutions conduct learning processes, including Islamic boarding schools (pesantren). This situation presents challenges for pesantren in maintaining boarding school discipline by restricting the use of personal electronic devices while simultaneously meeting learning demands that increasingly depend on digital technology. Therefore, technology management is not only concerned with the provision of digital facilities but also requires strategic management capable of balancing educational innovation with the character development of students (santri). This study aims to describe the strategic management of pesantren in managing the utilization of digital technology for learning based on boarding school discipline. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving pesantren leaders, educational administrators, teachers, and santri. Data were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while data validity was ensured through source and technique triangulation. The findings indicate that digital technology management is implemented through the formulation of learning device usage policies, the provision of institutionally controlled digital facilities, supervision throughout the learning process, and periodic evaluation of policy implementation. These strategies enable the effective use of digital technology without diminishing discipline, culture, and the core values of the pesantren, thereby supporting adaptive learning governance while preserving the institution's educational identity.
