The transformation of Islamic law in Indonesia demonstrates a significant shift in the relationship between socio-religious norms and the national legal system. Islamic law, which initially developed as a living law within Muslim society, has gradually undergone a process of formalization through state legislation and institutionalization. This study aims to analyze the reconfiguration of Islamic law in Indonesia from living law to state law, identify the factors driving this transformation, and examine its implications for legal pluralism and religious authority within society. This research employs an integrative literature review approach using a descriptive-qualitative method through the exploration and synthesis of scientific literature, legal regulations, and academic documents relevant to the development of Islamic law in Indonesia. The findings reveal that the positivization of Islamic law has occurred through the strengthening of state regulations in the fields of religious courts, the Compilation of Islamic Law, zakat, waqf, and Islamic economics, resulting in a shift in legal legitimacy from society to the state. The state plays a central role in reconstructing Islamic legal authority through legislation and the bureaucratization of religious legal institutions. This study confirms that the reconfiguration of Islamic law constitutes part of the dynamics of legal pluralism and the modernization of Indonesia’s national legal system.
