Abstract

Milkfish (Chanos chanos) is an economically important aquaculture commodity, while Ulva intestinalis is a nutrient-rich macroalga with potential as an alternative feed ingredient. This study examined the effects of U. intestinalis-based feed on milkfish growth, survival, and feed efficiency. A 60-day experiment was conducted in Mbay, Nagekeo Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, using a completely randomized design with three treatments and three replicates. The feeds contained 25% (A), 30% (B), or 45% (C) U. intestinalis. Absolute weight gain, specific growth rate, survival rate, feed conversion ratio, temperature, and pH were evaluated. Dietary U. intestinalis significantly affected absolute weight gain and feed conversion ratio (P < 0.05). Treatment A produced the highest weight gain of 14.37 g, followed by B at 14.01 g and C at 13.92 g. Survival was 100% in all treatments. The best feed conversion ratio occurred in C at 1.39, followed by B at 1.42 and A at 1.46. Water temperature ranged from 27–29°C and pH from 7–9. Thus, 25% U. intestinalis produced the best growth response.
